Kitty got a haircut...

Burton went for a day at the groomer! I think he looks great, the general consensus is that he looks silly but who cares, I like it! Burton has SO MUCH fur so I think this new haircut will help to cut down on all the shedding...that is the part of animals that drives me crazy! I am looking forward to less hair everywhere! Holiday Pet Salon did a fantastic job shaving him down and giving him a little line cut:) I think we are gonna keep up with this look!

All Grown up...

Ali is really growing up sometimes when I look at her I can still imagine her at Skylar's age bee bopping around! It really is crazy how time flies. We had a good time this last week, several
nights we went out and did girl stuff: haircuts, shoe shopping, pedicures, manicures, etc. to get her ready for her junior prom. We had a blast. It was fun to be able to spend some time with Ali and treat her to some pampering! Today I did her hair and make-up for prom. Ali went with a friend, Luke. Here are just a few of the shots we took after we got her ready. She has surely grown into a beautiful young woman!

Hats...

Skylar LOVES hats, and really likes to wear them! She has also recently taken to using them for games of peek a boo! She is such a silly girl.

I don't want to get dressed...

Skylar very much has her own ideas about EVERYTHING! And now she never wants to get dressed...She always is making it a challenge.

Shell Shocked

The other night when I was letting the dogs in I noticed that they had brought something up with them...this poor little guy was tucked way up in his shell, upside down. So I took him down into the yard, it took him awhile to be brave! I had to get a couple shots because I thought he was very cool! Hopefully he will hide better next time the big black dogs are around!!

Washable...

and its a good thing they are...We tried to color with markers the other day! I should have known not to step away for a brief second! Sky will be able to color with markers again when she does not insist on putting everything in her mouth! Good thing Crayola makes markers that are WASHABLE and NON-TOXIC!!

Sisters...

I love my sister! Hales, you're the best! I love spending time with you, we seem to always have a good time! Love you tons!!

A couple of weekends ago I celebrated with Lindsay Kooiker (soon to be Smithers) and the girls for her "last night out"! The bachelorette party was a blast! Mindy and Renee did a fantastic job with planning and Bridget did a great job entertaining us with her dancing:) It was a very fun night out! I can't wait till the big day!!

15 months old

I can hardly believe that my baby is 15 months old, the time has gone by very fast. On Friday she had her 15 months check up. She is doing great ... weighin in at 21 lbs. 10 oz. (fully clothed shoes and all, my guess is minus the clothes around 21 lbs) and 30 1/2 inches tall. This puts her in the 38th precentile for weight and the 55th percentile for height. She is right on track with all of her motor skills and verbal communication.
One thing that really cracked me up at the appointment was the doctors comment on how advanced she was...SO she of course was very quite while the Doctor was in the room because she is starting to be very much a mommy's girl. The Dr walked out of the room for a moment and she sprang back to life, pointing to a poster on the wall and saying "touch, touch" "mommy, touch". Well with each statement she became more and more upset and began talking louder and louder. I picked her up to let her get a closer look at the poster and that still was not what she had in mind. I think that she wanted it off the wall so she could hold it. Needless to say this turned into one of her very famous melt down moments, a full blown tantrum...arms flailing at her sides, face turning bright red, holding her breath in between screams to make you think she might just never breathe again. Then the Doctor walked back in...ok and get this he says "is she having a temper tantrum?" So I comment back "well that 's what we call it but do you have a better term?" (mind you Skylar is still having this tantrum because she still doesn't have the poster) The Doctor goes on to say that Skylar is advanced because typically tantrums of that caliber are not until around the age of 24 months, and he suggests that we work on it so that we are not paying for it when she is 2 or 3. So we continue on with explaining to her that mommy and daddy don't like screaming, hopefully this tactic will work. Or maybe our secnod line of defense of walking away after explaining that, they only problem I for see is I can't walk away in public :D So far I am lucky that we haven't had to deal with her tantrums much outside of our home.
So all in all Skylar is growing up just as she should! She is a great little girl and it is awesome to watch her discover the world everyday! I am really looking forward to this summer when we can get outside and play and not have to be cooped up in the house!

Looking more like ME!!!!!

I was going through some old pictures at my parents house and came across a bunch of pictures of me as a little girl. I know everyone says "Oh my gosh what a little Chris" every time they see Skylar but the proof is in the pictures my friends...the picture of me is from when I was about 2 (I think) but it still reminds me of Skylar. I have found a bunch of pictures in which the facial expressions that I have are ones that I watch on a daily basis with Skylar. So maybe there is a glimmer of hope that my little girl will look like me:)

Just for me...

Last weekend we had dinner with Hales & Court at Court's house. Skylar was inside with Haley and I but really wanted to be outside with the boys...she discovered (after a little prompting from Aunt Haley) the doggy door. Once she figured it out she would go n and out, it was very cute!

Book TIme

Skylar has found a new spot to read.  She loves to sit and look at books and they are not always picture books.  This past weekend her books of choice were two from the Chronicles of Narnia, neither of which have any pictures! She is such a funny & smart little girl.  The way she goes on, and on and on lately when her babbling is more understandable I think it maybe in full sentences!  She does say several words now that we can make out: Mommy, Daddy, done, no, don't, stop it, puppies, ball, hi, bye, yummy, pretty...there are several more we are WORKING ON: yes, please, thank you...and many others.  Every day her personality becomes a little stronger and she gives us many more reasons to smile!

making silly faces

We had a wonderful holiday celebration and we hope you all had a blessed day! We started off with an Easter basket at home, then onto a wonderful church service at RMUC. After church we went to mom & Doug's for lunch & an egg hunt for the kids! Michael, Kailyn & Chelsea did a great job finding all the eggs and sharing their goodies with Skylar since she stopped looking after her hands were full with two brightly colored beautiful eggs! After hanging out relaxing with the Winquist-Frye clan we headed over to my dad's house for more quality family time! Cam, Dad, Haley & Courtney, Chris & I enjoyed a little game of PIT, which I won:) It was lots of fun and Courtney had a good time ( I think) learning one of the family's favorite games! Skylar and Ali just watched the craziness...for those of you that have never played it gets to be loud and you have to stay on your toes, its a fun time! We also stuffed ourselves with lots of great food (except we could have used a little ranch;) right Hal & Court).
It was a great day. We are very blessed by all of the loved ones in our lives and cherish the moments we get to spend with them all!!

Just call me...

Crash! I had my first major spill this weekend. I just wanted to run down the driveway and my daddy thought I should stop but as he came closer to grab me I tried to take off. As I turned around to see if he was gaining on me, I lost my footing and Crashed head first into the pavement! I will admit I cried a little but I am a toughie so I didn't cry for long, mom and dad were more stressed about it then I was, they are always worried about stuff like that. My mom also was thinking my new raspberry would not look nice with my Easter dress, but it actually complimented the pink quite nicely!!!

Coloring Eggs

Hope you all had an Eggs-cellent Easter!!!

could she be any happier???

On Saturday afternoon Skylar and I dyed easter eggs. It was a little messy, the eggs turned out very pretty as did Skylar's fingers:) She wanted to keep touching the eggs the entire time they were soaking in the dye, thankfully it is not permanent dye!
